Writing Prompts
On the first night of my writing class, we did some free writing, using a writing prompt. It was enormously liberating, working with a first sentence, and seeing where it would take me.
I started the course because I've been struggling to find time to write while I'm working full time again. I knew I would have to write regularly, so I knew the course would provide a prod in the right direction.
I haven't written with a prompt for some time - I've had too many ideas and too little time to write lately - but using one on our first night reminded me how useful they can be.
